Job description
We are recruiting a Targeted Outreach and Detached Worker at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 33 Hours
Contract Type: Part Time/ Fixed Term until 31/03/2025
Location: Ty Penallta-Working hours can be split between home and office depending on specific task requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Youth Service Team.

We pay an attractive salary of £23,564 - £25,659 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

Caerphilly County Borough Council have an opportunity for a Targeted Outreach Detached Worker as part of our Youth Project.

Here the successful candidate will work closely with young people living in Caerphilly County Borough, supporting their social and educational development and their involvement in community activities.

The project is a long established intervention, focused around prevention and reduction; engaging young people, aged 8 - 25, who are involved in anti-social behaviour or risk taking.

Focusing on problem areas, individuals and groups, Youth Workers deliver detached, off site, outreach and centre based work in order to engage individuals identified via multi agency crime reduction groups or partners such as Safer Caerphilly Community Safety Partnership, Police and so on.

Sessions are tailored to the needs of the individuals with the aim of diverting them from behaviour that is likely to lead them to offend or re- offend.

Through provision of alternative activities the young people involved with the project can be engaged in opportunities that allow them to achieve accreditation, improve their educational outcomes, increase their chances of reaching their full potential, improve their well-being and also so they access support that can enable them to address problems and issues that affect the way they engage in society.

Sessions delivered to young people are diverse and developed in line with need; this includes working with both groups and on a one to one basis. To carry the work forward the Targeted Outreach and Detached Worker will provide support to the Senior Targeted Outreach and Detached Worker, with face-to-face delivery and home visits, transporting of young people, recording of information in order to inform reports to Welsh Government and development of activities for the young people to engage in.

For the role, we ask that you have:
  • Relevant Level 3 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales. For example Youth Work.
  • A knowledge and understanding of the promoting positive engagement initiative.
  • Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business / work purposes to travel throughout the borough to undertake home visits, attend meetings etc
