Deputy Headteacher (Secondment) - Maendy Primary School

The Headteacher and Governing Body of Maendy Primary School are seeking to appoint an experienced, innovative, and highly motivated senior leader with a proven ability to inspire and empower staff and pupils to achieve excellence in teaching, learning, and wellbeing. We are looking for a Deputy Headteacher who will provide strategic leadership for Teaching and Learning across the school, driving high standards and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Please note: This post is offered on a secondment basis for one year commencing after the February half term 2026. Interested candidates are kindly asked to discuss their interest with their current Headteacher prior to submitting an application.

Maendy Primary is a vibrant and inclusive school at the heart of the community. We are proud to offer a range of Local Authority specialist provisions, including a Learning Resource Base, Pont Fach, a part-time assessment Out Reach provision, and a part-time Nursery. We have recently moved into a brand-new school building during the Summer term, marking an exciting new chapter for our school. This development has enabled us to expand from a one-form to a two-form entry, with pupil numbers expected to grow significantly.

We are seeking an excellent senior leader who:
  • Has a proven track record of inspiring staff and pupils to achieve high standards in teaching, learning, and wellbeing
  • Is committed to leading Teaching and Learning across the school
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to inclusion and building positive relationships with all stakeholders
  • Can lead Safeguarding across the school
  • Is passionate about developing others and fostering a love of learning

The selection process will include a lesson observation, followed by an interview for shortlisted candidates.
