Minute Clerk – Governors’ Support Services

Pembrokeshire County Council

Salary: Grade 3 Casual Rate - £13.28ph (£11.79 basic rate + £1.49 holiday rate)

**THIS POST IS RESTRICTED TO INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY**

Introduction

The aim of this role is to support governing bodies that purchase the Governors' Support Service (GSS) Service Level Agreement (SLA) by taking notes at meetings and producing a formal record in the form of minutes. The minute clerk is a key support to GSS in remaining compliant with statutory requirements and by joining the team you will be helping to ensure the Local Authority meets its legal obligation to provide an effective clerking service to governing bodies.

Minute clerk responsibilities

  • To attend allocated governing body meetings and take notes and produce a formal record in the form of minutes.
  • To convey advice and information to governing bodies and committees as provided by members of the GSS team.
  • To provide timely feedback to the service manager on any urgent matters arising from governing body meetings.
  • To undertake training as required to meet the needs of the role and the team.

Governing body meetings

Most governing body meetings are held at the end of the school working day, so you must be available at this time and have your own vehicle to travel to meetings at schools. You will be typing minutes at home and need access to a laptop and the internet. The final minutes will require accurate language and sentence construction. Full training will be given on what is needed, but good IT/keyboard and language skills are essential.

Pay and expenses

The salary for a casual minute clerk is Grade 3 and approximately £13.28 per hour. Travel expenses can also be claimed. A timesheet is required to be completed.
