RELEVANT QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

• Degree level qualification
• Post-graduate qualification in Educational Psychology (MSc or PHD in
Educational Psychology)
• Educational Pyschologist Regulated by the Health and Care Professions
Council (HCPC)
DESIRABLE
• Evidence of continuing professional development

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL
• Experience of working as an Educational Psychologist

Job Description

Purpose of the Post

• To ensure that the people of Gwynedd and Anglesey are central to everything we do by:
• Promoting good practice through use of information and psychological techniques.
• Undertake a strategic role on behalf of the LA in the designated fields accordance with the ALN and Inclusion
strategies, and the Gwynedd and Anglesey Local Education Education Strategy. This may include:
• Developing and reviewing the In-service Training programme for schools staff, parents and members of the
Integrated Team in a specific field/fields in collaboration with relevant shareholders.
• Preparing and conducting training in that field/those fields.
• Developing and promoting use of Criteria appropriate to this field/these fields in co-operation with relevant
stakeholders.
• Taking on a strategic role in Forums within this field/these fields.
• Ensuring that interventions provided within the field/fields are based on evidence and research in
effectiveness and efficiency.
• Planning, monitoring and reviewing effective interventions for each individual pupil.
• Contributing to the evidence available in this field/these fields thhrough investigative projects and considering
the effectiveness and efficiency of services.
• Taking a direct part in the intervention package of some individuals, where appropriate.

Educational Psychologists.

Main Duties.

• Responsibility for strategic leadership which includes carrying out a specific role within the ALN&I Area
Forums, ensuring consistency of use of Criteria and planning a comprehensive training programme for
schools' staff and the central service.
• Assist the Senior ALN Manager with monitoring quality and mapping the team's provision within the defined
fields.
• Monitoring work load and the use of Specialist Teachers within the defined fields, in consultation with the
Senior ALN Manager and the Area ALN&I Quality Officer to ensure quality and the best use of the Team's
resources.
• Developing and reviewing the In-service Training programme for schools staff, parents and members of the
Integrated Team in a specific field/fields in collaboration with relevant shareholders.

• Undertake consultation work in schools, in a defined part of the County and within an area, ensuring that
services and agencies that assist the children, their schools and their parents receive appropriate information
and advice. The landscape can vary according to the needs of the service.
• Contribute to evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of the LA's Educational Psychology Service and
Integrated Service according to the LA's effectiveness and efficiency indicators.
• Undertake statutory duties in accordance with the Wales Code of Practice and implement the LA's policies
and processes - statutory and otherwise.
• Provide consultation Service for schools on a regular basis, by working within the Integrated Team within a
specific area, noting the type of support provided by the existing staffing resources.
• Assist schools to meet the educational needs of pupils referred by means of a consultation and facilitate
planning that concentrates on the individual.
• Undertake further professional training, essential for the efficient and effective running of the Service, in
accordance with the Professional Development Plan in order to ensure that the service provided meets the
standards of the Health and Care Professional Council.
• Contribute strategically and actively to specific projects set up by the LA.
• Collaborate in an integrated way with other services within the LA and contact and collaborate with other
services and agencies according to the needs and practice within the Education Authority.
• Undertake any other duties appropriate to the level of responsibility of the post at the request of Managers.
General
