This is a Secondment opportunity Temporary Full time 37.00 hours per week to 30/09/2025

We are currently looking for a Key Worker (Children Looked After Education Service ) to join our team.

We are currently looking for a Key Worker - Children and Young People ‘Care Experienced' to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for - The Key Worker post will assist the Education Coordinator for CLA in coordinating and discharging the Council's duties in relation to the development, management and quality assurance of PEPs. They will work in partnership with all stakeholders to ensure that every child and young person looked after by Neath Port Talbot (NPT) has a person centred PEP that compliments their broader care plan, IDP if ALN and other plans.

The main duties of the post;

The Key Worker post will take a responsibility for the development (systems and processes) and roll out of the new PEP on the Impulse Nexus Gateway. They will coordinate all stakeholders across both the Education and Children's Departments to test the system functionality, develop process and user guides, deliver training, support access and user permissions and track and monitor the creation of Personal Education Plans (PEPs) within timescales.

In addition, the Key Worker posts will take responsibility for providing advice and support to ‘care experienced' pupils, schools, carers, Children's Services and Education colleagues both in NPT and out of county, with their main focus being to support transitions for pupils in the broadest sense (new admissions, movers in, movers out, those receiving exclusion, those with very poor attendance, pri to sec and 16+).

You will have experience of;
  • Working within a school, LA or other educational setting.
  • Working with children and young people with ‘care experience' and all stakeholders in relation to their education.
  • Developing appropriate learning plans to support children to achieve their learning potential.
  • Supporting young people access the educational opportunities available to them.
  • Reducing barriers to learning.
  • Supporting children and young people to approach, make and sustain change and transitions with school.
  • Using electronic systems and developing processes to support staff.
Ideally you will have;
  • 5 A - C grades at GCSE (or equivalent qualifications), NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent/similar) or teaching/education related qualification and fluency in English.
  • Excellent communication and I.T. Skills.
  • Knowledge of working with current legislation in relation to PEPS within the Social Services Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014 (part 6) and An Integrated Approach to Improving Education Outcomes for Looed After Children in Wales 2021.
  • Excellent knowledge of and experience in delivering relational/ therapeutic style models.
This new role with sit within the Children Looked After arm of the Local Authorities Inclusion Service and will be an ideal opportunity for someone wishing to broaden their experiences through secondment.
