The Headteacher and Governing Body of Clydach Primary School wish to appoint an excellent foundation learning classroom practitioner with a successful track record in promoting high standards and pupil progress. They will be required to build on the solid progress in the school's recent Estyn revisit, and will lead, nurture and support the team to embrace the principles of foundation learning to ensure all pupils enjoy a high-quality learning experience in an exciting and creative environment.

The successful candidate will also be required to take on the responsibility of ALNCo across the school. The successful candidate will have a clear appreciation of the requirements of the new ALN bill, and support staff to ensure that pupils' additional needs are identified early, and provision is effective to enable every pupil with ALN to reach their full potential.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has proven ability and expertise, and can demonstrate high standards of teaching, learning and leadership. The successful candidate will be a resilient team player who embraces collaboration and continuous improvement and can manage a thriving work environment on two sites.

The successful candidate must be able to carry out duties and responsibilities to an excellent standard, as set out in the job description. You will work closely with the Headteacher, senior management team, staff, parents/carers, pupils and governors promoting the vision and values of the school to our stakeholders and visitors at all times.

We are looking for someone who:
  • is an experienced foundation learning practitioner and demonstrates a clear understanding of how children learn and develop from Nursery to Year 2
  • has a passion and interest for additional learning needs and aims to ensure all pupils achieve their full potential
  • has a good understanding of current developments and processes in relation to ALN
  • has experience or an interest in school leadership and management
  • has excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • has excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • has a confident and approachable attitude as well as the ability to work well under pressure
  • is innovative, creative and flexible in their approach
  • is able to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • is committed to building positive relationships with all stakeholders
  • is willing to contribute to the broader life of the school community
  • is committed to the safeguarding and well-being of pupils
