DescriptionThis is an exciting role designed to support the on-going delivery and assessments of NVQ's in the work place and apprenticeship programmes across the faculty.

You will provide support by ensuring that the quality of programmes meets the required standards both internally and externally to provide the very best experience and service to our learners.

The post holder must demonstrate initiative, good organisational skills and sound time management skills. The post holder will be expected to work to an agreed caseload and as such will be asked to work extensively off site to meet the demands of the role. The exact caseload number will be agreed with the Faculty Management Team and Senior IQA and will vary according to geographic distribution of apprentices and travel involved but will be in the range of between 45 and 50 learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • To work closely with the Line Manager on all aspects of provision
  • To conduct comprehensive induction programmes with learners and apprentices to the programme specification
  • To conduct on site and in college assessment of learners on your specialised vocation
  • To assess learners against the relevant qualifications to standards laid down by the curriculum areas and appropriate Awarding Body
  • To deliver workshops to learners as / when applicable
  • To facilitate relevant underpinning knowledge to fill candidate skills gaps as appropriate
  • To undertake Internal Quality Assurance processes in line with the college and awarding organisation strategy
  • To achieve the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice qualification within a 12 month period where this is required by the awarding organisation and/or the college
  • To attend and contribute to all faculty and quality standardisation meetings as and when required
  • To ensure that the wellbeing and safeguarding of all learners are monitored closely and sign posted if appropriate
  • When working with apprentices to ensure programme KPIs are met
  • To undertake full Health and Safety vetting of employer's premises ensuring their management systems for H&S are within guidelines prior to start of programme
  • To ensure employers are informed of progress against all targets and attendance at classes
  • To support and mentor the learners throughout their qualification enabling them to complete successfully and signpost them to the next stage of learning
  • To ensure effective liaison between managers, teachers, tutors and training advisors to ensure each learner's progress is such that they complete their framework on time
  • To ensure that all administration/digital processes associated with the role are completed to the highest standards and on time
  • To maintain personal continuous professional development
  • To ensure the cross-cutting themes e.g. ESDGC, ESQs, Prevent and the Welsh language are incorporated into delivery and assessment processes
  • To utilise and maintain appropriate tracking using Maytas Hub when working with apprenticeships
  • To, in conjunction with lecturing staff, prepare, plan and assemble learning and assessment materials
  • To act as a conduit between employers and the college ensuring that all business leads are referred to the BDI
  • To represent the college at events, networks and meetings, when required.

Skills Knowledge and ExpertiseEssential Criteria:
  • NVQ Level 3-5 or higher
  • Relevant industrial experience within vocational area
  • Assessor Awards (For new candidates who are not in possession of an Assessor Award, support will be provided by the college to achieve the required standards within an agreed timeframe)
  • GCSE English and Mathematics at minimum Grade C or equivalent
  • Competence in the use of a range of IT Systems and packages, including Microsoft WORD, EXCEL, Bespoke packages and cloud-based applications
  • Good communicator with diplomacy and tact
  • Good interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Ability to work harmoniously with colleagues
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Good presentational skills
Desirable Criteria:
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • First Aid at Work
  • Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice qualification (where this is required) to be gained within 12 months)
  • Evidence of CPD that demonstrates engagement in activities to maintain up to date knowledge and skills of industry practices, products and equipment
Welsh Language Requirements:
  • Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) - Level 2
  • Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) - Level 2
