Welsh for Adults Tutors
Job description

10 hours per week

Fixed Term – 31/05/26

Are you enthusiastic about the Welsh language and want to see the Welsh language flourish in the Gwent area? Would you like to help us meet the high demand for classes in the area?

Are you interested in teaching Welsh to adults as a part-time tutor?

Due to the increase in the number of adults who wish to learn Welsh in the Gwent area, Dysgu Cymraeg Gwent wants to appoint part-time tutors to help us respond to the challenge. The work will mainly be in the evenings and weekends but there will be opportunities to teach during the day.

Of course, fluency in Welsh is essential for this work.

Although it is desired to appoint tutors who have teaching experience in the field of Welsh for Adults and who have a PGCE teaching qualification, it should be noted that applications from those without experience or qualifications are welcome as complete training is provided as needed by Dysgu Cymraeg Gwent. Above all, the enthusiasm to teach the Welsh language to adults is absolutely essential and if you are enthusiastic about teaching the Welsh language we will be able to train you.

This part-time teaching work could be an opportunity to develop a full-time career in an exciting field which is one of the Welsh Government's priority areas in its target of reaching one million Welsh speakers by 2050. Are you looking for a new challenge, enjoy learning or looking for a new career direction? If so, Dysgu Cymraeg Gwent wants to hear from you.

It is essential that the successful candidates are able to communicate well, prioritize work, work independently and work well as part of a team.

Dysgu Cymraeg Gwent based at Coleg Gwent on the Crosskeys campus is responsible for all provision of Welsh for Adults in the Gwent area. Classes are provided face to face and on electronic platforms such as Zoom and TEAMS for learners from Entry level up to Gloywi level.

The College is committed to safeguarding, ensuring the safety and welfare of children and young people. Employment is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service and registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) if appropriate.

Please note that successful candidates will be expected to pay for the Enhanced Disclosure and registration with the Education Workforce Council.

Lecturing posts will require a teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE) or the willingness to attain one with a specified period of time. This will be a requirement under your contract of employment and EWC registration.

At Coleg Gwent we are committed to providing a working environment which embraces diversity and which promotes equality of opportunity. This is underpinned by the Equality Act 2010 and will be adhered to at each stage of the recruitment process.

Our goal is to ensure these commitments are also embedded in our day-to-day working practices with our learners, colleagues, and partners.
