Starting Salary: £30,595 rising to £35,870 per annum (£29,013pa for unqualified teachers)

About our School:

ACT School is a registered independent school that supports students from the ages of 11-16 years who have been referred to us due to either having been or are at risk of being excluded from mainstream education, who are school phobic or are classed as vulnerable.

We are passionate about ensuring all young people are equipped with the skills they need to become successful adults.


About the role:

We are looking for a positive, caring Key Stage 3 Teacher to join our team and support learners aged 11-16. These learners have been referred to ACT Schools due to challenges in mainstream education, including school phobia or risk of exclusion.
You will be enthusiastic, patient, and committed to supporting young people who experience behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties (BESD).
As a Key Stage 3 Teacher at our registered independent school, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality, engaging lessons in wellbeing, maths, and English. Your teaching will be tailored to the diverse needs of our learners and align with ESTYN requirements.
The successful candidate will fully appreciate the importance of personal growth and wellbeing and be committed to developing inclusive lessons that reflect learners’ needs and current educational priorities. A strong focus on experiential learning is essential, providing enriching opportunities inside and outside the classroom and offering alternative approaches to education.
This role is part of the Schools Team and reports to the Head Teacher.
ACT is committed to promoting the Welsh language for both staff and learners. While Welsh language skills are not essential for this role, they are desirable.

• Experience of learners with specific educational needs, i.e. ADHD, Dyslexia
• Delivery and knowledge of designated curriculum area with specific focus on engaging low level ability learners.
• Experience of working with challenging, disengaged learners and challenging inappropriate behaviour
• Experience of providing enrichment and personal growth opportunities to young people with a focus on experiential learning
• PGCE or equivalent
• Have a good and up-to-date knowledge and understanding of a range of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies and know how to use and adapt them.
• Curriculum development
