Starting Salary: £27,958 rising to £30,595 per annum

About our School:



ACT School is a registered independent school that supports students from the ages of 11-16 years who have been referred to us due to either having been or are at risk of being excluded from mainstream education, who are school phobic or are classed as vulnerable.

About the role:

We are looking for a positive, caring individual who is keen to support learners who encounter challenging behaviours within ACT Schools. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic and patient and will have a full understanding of behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD).

As an employee at our registered independent school for young people aged 11-16, you will be expected to develop and deliver the school’s offer of additional learning provision. Working collaboratively with the School’s Inclusion Officer, teaching staff and HLTA team, you will lead on the development and implementation of effective targeted support to include literacy and numeracy interventions, reading support and develop effective strategies for groups and individual learners.

The role is split across our school sites (Cardiff & Hadfield Road) reporting to the Inclusion Manager.

What we need from you: 



Experience of working with challenging, disengaged learners

Minimum of 3 GCSE’s (or equivalent) Grade C or above in Maths & English

Teaching Assistant/teaching qualification (or equivalent)

Ability to communicate effectively to learners, colleagues, manager, parents etc by telephone, writing and in person.

Team player with ability to work on own initiative

Ability to develop others

Willingness to travel to other School site as and when required to support learners
