Are you passionate about shaping the future of early childhood education? Do you have a wealth of experience and knowledge to share with aspiring childcare professionals? We're seeking a dedicated Childcare Lecturer to inspire and educate the next generation of caregivers and educators.
You will deliver a teaching programme based on the CCPLD Level 2 Core, Level 2 and 3 theory and Practice qualifications to learners enrolled on childcare courses We are looking for a enthusiastic and dynamic educator who can share their expertise, knowledge, and real-world experiences to equip students with the skills and insights they need to excel in their careers.
The Faculty Area of Childcare forms part of the Aberystwyth curriculum section. Learners within the section partake in a wide range of extra-curricular activities including placements at various local schools and nurseries and are supported by a well embedded tutorial system.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a teaching programme based on the CCPLD Level 2 Core, Level 2 and 3 theory and Practice qualifications and NCFE Level 1 Health and Social Care/Childcare programmes
- Take an active role in monitoring, tracking and marking of learners work and contributions
- Undertake IQA duties for the department
- Support skills through embedding literacy and numeracy within every day delivery
- Participate and contribute to regular team meetings in order to standardise areas of delivery
- Be involved in all aspects of the section's quality control systems in order to maintain high standards of teaching and learning
- Carry out any other duties as directed by the Principal/Chief Executive commensurate with the grade of the post at the initial place of work or other locations within the College;
Skills Knowledge and ExpertiseEssential Criteria:
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification
- Teaching qualification (If you are not in possession of a teaching qualification as at
the date of employment, you will be required to obtain a PGCE within 2 years of this date) - GCSE English and Mathematics at minimum Grade C or O Level equivalent
- Documented evidence of appropriate Professional Development
- Good literacy and numeracy skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels both orally and in writing
- Sound understanding of digital literacy
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
- Ability to work harmoniously with learners and colleagues
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Excellent punctuality and ability to work flexibly
- Relevant teaching experience
- A good understanding of relevant issues in post 16 education
- A proven track record of high levels of learner attainment
- Awareness of key performance indicators
- Evidence of innovative teaching and learning activities
- Evidence of effective tracking and monitoring of learner performance
- Experience of actively participating in the pastoral care of young people
- Experience of delivering remote teaching sessions through the Google suite
- Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) - Level 3/4
- Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) - Level 3/4
