As Assistant Head of Curriculum, the post holder will play a key role in the implementation of College strategies, policies and procedures in the areas of Teaching and Learning, Curriculum and Curriculum Development, Quality assurance and Quality Improvement and Commercial work. The post could involve extensive travel across Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion, flexibility in working hours and involve collaborating effectively across the UWTSD group, focusing on curriculum design and delivery.
The Assistant Head of Curriculum role involves liaison and collaboration with key stakeholders and external contacts. The college has developed extensive, value adding partnerships upon which this role will influence significantly.
To meet future challenges the postholder will support the College's drive to increase non-core income by engaging the Curriculum Area in a range of income generating activities. Additionally, the postholder will be required to engage with and embed a range of cost reduction measures, whilst not affecting the quality of provision for its learners.
Purpose
- To support the Head of curriculum in leading our Access and HE provision, ensuring a successful and enjoyable learning experience for all learners;
- To assist the head of Curriculum in achieving the highest possible standards in teaching and learning across the area;
- To implement processes and procedures which will achieve the highest standards of learner outcomes within Access and HE.
- Ensure the effective implementation of quality assurance and improvement processes;
- To assist the Head of Curriculum in planning, managing and evaluating an efficient, effective and financially viable Curriculum that meets the needs of learners and provides progression into higher levels of learning, employment or self-employment;
- To collaborate effectively across the UWTSD group, with a particular focus on curriculum design and delivery;
- To contribute to initiatives to increase non-core income and to reduce costs whilst not affecting quality of provision.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise Essential Criteria:
Qualifications
- Degree/HND or Equivalent
- Teaching qualifications
- Relevant experience of curriculum management including the introduction and implementation of new initiatives
- Experience of curriculum development
- Experience of working in partnership with external agencies.
- Experience of developing income generating activity in an educational environment
- Excellent communicator with diplomacy and tact
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
- Ability to lead a geographically dispersed team
- High level of personal integrity and Confidentiality
- Ability to work harmoniously with senior colleagues
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- An understanding of developments in FE, HE, WBL and the 14-19 sector
