Bishop Vaughan Catholic School : Teacher of RE - Second in Department
Swansea Council
The Governing Body of Bishop Vaughan Catholic School invites applications for the post of Second in Department - Religious Education (Assistant Head of RE). The Governors wish to appoint an experienced, motivated and inspiring practitioner who will provide leadership, guidance and direction of the RE department - the 'core of the core departments' - within our school. The Assistant Head of RE will embody our school's mission and values and will play a key role in building on its strengths for the future.
The post holder will be a highly effective, dynamic and inspirational Assistant Head of RE, supporting the Head of Department in leading our successful and experienced RE department. The successful candidate therefore must be able to contribute significantly at a whole-school level, as this role is integral to all aspects of the school's work.
We welcome applications from candidates able to demonstrate convincing potential of their capacity to support the Head of RE in leading our team of committed, reflective and experienced practitioners. In addition, the successful candidate will benefit from the support and line management of the Head of RE, and in addition, will work closely with the School Chaplain and the link Governor for RE, meeting regularly also with the Governors' RE and Ethos sub-committee.
Our ideal candidate will be:
A candidate with a strong commitment to and understanding of Catholic education and the Catholic ethos
Possessed of a clear vision for developing the liturgical life of the school and nurturing the spiritual and prayer life of pupils and staff
Able to support and promote the school's ethos and vision, continuing to strengthen these throughout the school
An outstanding classroom practitioner with a proven track record of excellent results and a compelling vision for improvement
Committed to ensuring that each young person is effectively supported to fulfil their potential, regardless of additional needs or disability
Committed to working in pursuit of success for students and of raising standards
Ability, experience and skills to lead on strategies to achieve excellence in teaching and learning in Religious Education, and able to develop, plan and deliver effective and high-quality lessons to pupils across all key stages
Knowledgeable in relation to GCSE and A-Level specifications and developments
Able to support the Head of RE in shaping and delivering RSE provision
Able to respond in an agile, adaptable and appropriate manner to emerging pressures or challenges
Able to demonstrate recognition of the importance of effective teamwork and collaboration, and able to evidence the capacity to build supportive working relationships with colleagues
