The Governors of Ysgol Bryn Castell Special School wish to appoint a Learning Recovery Manager who has the appropriate qualities to work with the community of Ysgol Bryn Castell to promote positive behaviour management, wellbeing, attendance and engagement of pupils, irrespective of needs, supporting them to work towards achieving self-regulation and independence.

Ysgol Bryn Castell is a community day special school maintained by Bridgend County Borough Council, which provides education for pupils aged 7 to 19 years old with complex Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD) including Autism alongside specific learning difficulties and other additional learning needs.

The successful candidate will be an experienced special school practitioner with an excellent understanding of pupils with complex Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD) including Autism alongside specific learning difficulties and other additional learning needs. They will use a trauma-informed, positive behaviour management, PBS approach to coordinate and implement agreed programmes, provision and specialist care for pupils. The successful candidate will be required to help pupils with complex and challenging behaviour to overcome barriers to learning, including developing their potential by raising standards of behaviour for learning, attendance and engagement. This specialist care, support and guidance will be offered to pupils and their Parents/Carers/families, both within and beyond Ysgol Bryn Castell.

The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.

An Enhanced with Childrens Barred list criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.
