About the role
The post presents an opportunity to join a team in a happy and thriving environment and we are looking for a teaching assistant who is a good team member to fit in with our close supportive staff. We are blessed with good parish links, happy and enthusiastic staff, wonderful pupils and tremendous resources. St Padarn's welcomes applications from Catholics but candidates of all faiths or no faith are welcome to apply. The successful candidate's job will be to work 1:1with an ALN pupil, work with a small group of pupils or support pupils in class (as designated by the ALNCo or the Headteacher) in a TA1 role for 30 hours per week.

The successful candidate will be required to:
  • be committed to upholding the Catholic ethos of the school
  • be committed to the school and contribute to aspects of school life
  • adhere to the school safeguarding policy promoting the welfare of all our children
  • have experience working in a school setting and across all age ranges
  • hold at least NVQ level 2 in childcare or an equivalent or higher qualification related to education
  • have a deep understanding of pupils with ALN / medical needs and their needs to improve academically, socially and emotionally.
  • to deliver intervention programmes as deemed necessary
  • lead daily sensory circuit activities
  • deliver speech therapy programmes
  • support the pupils in developing basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • deliver intimate care as necessary
  • be flexible and willing to adapt to changing circumstances
  • have a positive outlook and be a team player

The ability to speak, read and write Welsh is essential.

Required for the 1st of October 2025 or as soon as possible afterwards.

Fixed term contract until March 31st 2027.

The interview process will involve leading a short task with a group of pupils as well as a formal interview for 25 minutes.
