About the role
The post presents an opportunity to join a team in a happy and thriving environment and we are looking for a teaching assistant who is a good team member to fit in with our close supportive staff. We are blessed with good parish links, happy and enthusiastic staff, wonderful pupils and tremendous resources. St Padarn's welcomes applications from Catholics but candidates of all faiths or no faith are welcome to apply. The successful candidate's job will be graded as a TA level 2 for 32.5 hours a week and expected to work in the Dosbarth Leri (Reception class) as a classroom teaching assistant plus lead some intervention tasks with pupils within the class.

The successful candidate will be required to:
  • be committed to upholding the Catholic ethos of the school
  • be committed to the school and contribute to aspects of school life
  • adhere to the school safeguarding policy promoting the welfare of all our children
  • have a working understanding of the Curriculum for Wales and Progression Step 1 and 2 and support the class teacher delivering the curriculum
  • have experience working in a school setting especially with Pre-reception, Reception or Year 1 pupils
  • hold at least NVQ level 3 in childcare or an equivalent or higher qualification related to education
  • deliver any required intervention programmes as required in class
  • support the pupils in developing their skills through all six Areas of Learning and Experiences
  • deliver intimate care as necessary and support with toilet training
  • develop play skills and social development and support behavioural expectations
  • assess progress of the pupils working in collaboration with the class teacher
  • prepare some resources and activities appropriate to the pupil's developmental needs.

The ability to speak Welsh is essential.

The interview process will involve leading a short task with a group of pupils as well as a formal interview for 25 minutes.
