Salary: £31,022.00 to £33,699.00 per annum

Contract: Fixed Term Grant Funded 31/03/2026

Location of post: Cwmavon Library/Opportunities Hubs/Outreach Locations

About the role:

We are currently seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and flexible individual to join our team as an Employer Advisor. The Trailblazer Programme is an ambitious, multi-agency initiative led by Neath Port Talbot Council to reduce economic inactivity and improve wellbeing across our communities. We're currently delivering innovative projects in our Opportunity Hubs and outreach locations, working alongside health professionals, training providers, and employers to help people overcome complex barriers to work. From supporting residents with mental health and long-term health conditions, to tackling digital exclusion, housing instability, and low confidence, we're at the forefront of creating tailored, life-changing solutions that make a genuine difference in people's lives.

You'll be joining a passionate, supportive, and forward-thinking team who believe in the power of collaboration and kindness to achieve lasting results. We celebrate success together, share knowledge openly, and are driven by the positive impact we see every day.

As an Employer Advisor, you will:

Build strong and sustainable relationships with local employers, SMEs, and third-sector organisations to create meaningful work placements and employment opportunities.

Promote participants who face significant barriers to employment, supporting both them and employers throughout the recruitment process, including reasonable adjustments.

Provide in-work support to ensure successful, long-term outcomes for participants.

Work closely with businesses to identify skills needs, facilitate training opportunities, and promote the benefits of inclusive recruitment.

Act as a key link between employers and the Trailblazer project, ensuring that unemployed residents of Neath Port Talbot can access the right opportunities and progress positively towards employment.

Your daily routine will be to:
  • Engage with local employers to build and maintain sustainable relationships
  • Promote participants to employers and match them to suitable opportunities
  • Provide ongoing support to both employers and participants throughout the employment process
  • Facilitate training, work placements, and recruitment activities to meet business needs
  • Maintain accurate records and monitor progress to ensure positive outcomes
  • Work collaboratively with partners and colleagues to deliver the Trailblazer project effectively
About you:

Do you have:
  • Experience of supporting unemployed individuals with significant barriers to work, such as health conditions or disabilities?
  • A track record of engaging employers and creating sustainable job opportunities?
  • Knowledge of recruitment practices and health & safety requirements?
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships?
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage a busy caseload and meet deadlines?
  • A full driving licence and access to transport?
We would welcome those with experience in the following roles:

Employer Engagement or Business Development

Recruitment Consultant or HR Officer

Careers Adviser, Mentor, or Employability Coach

Welfare-to-Work or Supported Employment Practitioner
