Role Title: Austism Mentor

Location: All sites

Contract Type: Fixed Term/Full Time (March 2025)

Salary scale: £24,717 - £25,064 based on a salary assessment

Here at Coleg Cambria we are looking for a Autism Mentor to join our Additional Learning Needs team at our Deeside site but with travel to all sites.

Overview of Role

The Autism Mentor will be responsible for providing support to students with Autistic and social communication difficulties helping them to overcome barriers in order to achieve their full potential within education.

As an Autism Mentor at Coleg Cambria you will be expected to help to build learner confidence and motivate them to engage in their timetabled sessions as well as undertaking independent study where required.

Essential Requirements

- A sound and proven knowledge of Autism and it can impact academic performance

- Proven previous experience supporting Autistic learners

- Awareness and understanding of the stigma and discrimination that surrounds Autistic people

- It is essential that you have excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt your communication style when required.

- Self awareness and the ability to recognise your own limitations and the confidence to refer to other services and support when necessary

Coleg Cambria is committed to raising the profile of the Welsh language.
