1 x full time permanent post

1 x full time 2 years fixed term contract to be reviewed at the end of the term

Soulbury Payscale for Educational Psychologists points 2 to 7 with up to 3 SPA points (previous SPA points will be honoured)

The posts will be based in a multi-disciplinary team within our Children's Services, Edge of Care and Family Support Service with the aim of providing advice, guidance and evidence based therapeutic interventions alongside social work colleagues and systemic family therapists.

If you are skilled and experienced in working with children and families, as well as having knowledge and experience of working with young people who have experienced trauma, we would like to hear from you.

Post holders will provide support to children and young people, and their families/carers who are experiencing complex challenges in their lives with the aim of preventing:

  • Unnecessary admission of children and young people into care and assist returning home those that might already be in care.
  • The breakdown of placements for children and young people already in care and reduce the need for movement between placements.
As a Specialist Educational Psychologist you will be required to work across Rhondda Cynon Taf and with children and young people from the area who might be living beyond its boundaries, offering an exciting opportunity for individuals who want to make a difference we can offer you:

Although based in our Children's Services, Edge of Care and Family Support Service, support and supervision will be provided from our Rhondda Cynon Taf/Merthyr Tydfil Integrated Educational Psychology Service. You will also be able to take advantage of the excellent CPD opportunities offered by this team.

A flexible approach to working hours to meet service needs and working in a family supportive manner is essential.
