Our Youth Service Team is looking to employ a Corporate Trainee based at Powerhouse Youth Centre, Llanederyn Hub, Round Wood, Llanederyn, Cardiff CF23 9PN.

Our Youth Service consists of a talented and enthusiastic team of professional youth workers who operate a range of provisions across the city for young people aged 11-25. This set up consists of youth centres, specialist provisions, youth mentoring and street based youth work teams that all provide a wide variety of creative opportunities and experiences that encourage the participation and development of young people in communities.

The Powerhouse Youth Centre is a neighbourhood youth provision based in Llanederyn Hub and works with young people aged 11-25, many who live in the surrounding communities of Llanederyn and Pentwyn. The centre offers a variety of creative and exciting activities to engage young people that promote life skills, healthy relationships and personal expression and development.

About the job
You will be supporting the team with event, project & workshop planning, delivery and evaluation.

You will support the team to collate data such as membership, attendance and participation.

You will be required to carry out a number of IT based tasks and be happy to use a computer to create documents using a variety of software.

As part of a team who are responsible for supporting young people to develop holistically, you will be working face to face with young people to facilitate their personal, social and educational development, to enable them to develop their voice, influence and place in society and to reach their full potential.

Full training will be provided by our Team who will help and encourage you to develop in the role and you will be encouraged to take on a variety of duties. You will receive supervision and on the job training and will have a named mentor to support you to deliver an efficient and effective service in a positive, customer-focused manner.

The Corporate Apprentice & Trainee Scheme also provides opportunities to enhance your transferrable skills to help support your career progression.

Many of our teams have moved to online and homeworking and you will be encouraged to develop the skills to support this. Where homeworking is required, you will be given the necessary equipment however, you will need to arrange your own internet connectivity (some support may be available to help with this).

The post holder will be expected to work unsociable hours including evenings and some weekends.

Our Corporate Trainees gain valuable experience working for the largest Council in Wales. Whilst we cannot guarantee that the appointed candidate will go on to secure a further role at the end of this initial contract, they will be supported and encouraged to take advantage of the many opportunities available within our organisation, in order to progress their career.
