About us

Cardiff Metropolitan University is a supportive and inclusive university delivering the highest quality of teacher training, education, early years and youth and community work provision.

Cardiff Met has been providing Initial Teacher Education courses for over 60 years and is recognised as being amongst the largest centres of teaching education and training in the UK. Home to the Cardiff Partnership for Initial Teacher Education we work in collaboration with its school partners to ensure that student teachers not only achieve but seek to surpass the professional standards for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). We do this through the delivery of high quality, accredited and professional education that is rigorously practical and intellectually challenging.

Our teaching, education, youth work and professional learning courses have increasing national and international reputation for excellence with many being developed in collaboration with regulatory and professional bodies. These include the Education Workforce Council (EWC), Education and Training Standards (ETS) Wales, Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC), the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the British Dyslexia Association (BDA).

All our courses have optional or compulsory work placements providing you with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and enhance your employability.

You will be taught by lecturers who are research active and specialists in their field of work and are committed to providing a high quality, supportive learning experience. We have excellent links with schools, employers and the community, and our outstanding facilities on campus, such as our outdoor learning centre, Froebel House, and laboratories enrich your learning experience.
