Teacher Education programmes at UWTSD
UWTSD offers three main routes into teaching, depending on whether you are interested in pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate pathway:
The undergraduate BA Primary Education with QTS qualification is a three-year degree programme, which takes place at our picturesque Carmarthen campus – where traditional meets modern – as well as in partner schools.
The one-year PGCE Primary provides a creative mix of university and school-based modules, with students gaining a deep and broad knowledge of learning and teaching across the primary age range. Delivered at our state-of-the-art Swansea waterfront campus and in partner schools.
The one-year PGCE Secondary pathway refreshes and extends your subject knowledge, and allows you to choose a subject you wish to specialise in. Delivered at our state-of-the-art Swansea waterfront campus and in partner schools.
Post-compulsory Education and Training (PCET) at UWTSD
The PCET programme at UWTSD offers the opportunity to study a highly valued qualification that enables graduates to teach in a range of post-compulsory education settings.
Offered both full and part-time, we have a range of entry options to suit recent graduates, those already in employment, as well as those returning to study following a break.
Professional Learning and Leadership programmes at UWTSD
UWTSD works with schools, colleges and other regional and national partners to develop and deliver professional learning and leadership programmes to educators at all stages of their professional lives.
The EdD is ideal for anyone who is working in school or in an education-related capacity and has the desire for higher level applied academic study and practice-oriented research.
The National MA Education (Wales) has been collaboratively developed by seven universities in Wales through direct engagement with a variety of key stakeholders, including the Welsh Government. This course will ensure that all education professionals in Wales have the same high-quality opportunity to enhance their professional knowledge, engage with research and improve their professional practice.
This programme is designed to develop current and future leaders; create opportunities for the development of innovation in practice for the new curriculum; and establish communities for research through networking and collaboration.

Teacher Education Online Taster Sessions
We offer regular teacher education taster sessions, which typically take place after work/school for people busy juggling the challenges of everyday life.
The sessions are informal, friendly and provide access to a team of experienced teacher educators who will be happy to respond to any questions you may have.
