Ysgol Swn y Don are seeking to appoint a passionate, nurturing and experienced Year 5/6 teacher to join our effective team.

The successful applicants will;
  • Display effective classroom organisation and behaviour management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with learners, members of the Governing Body, staff, parents/carers and the ability to liaise with other professionals effectively.
  • Be able to meet the requirements of the Professional standards for Teaching and Leadership.
  • Be able to work effectively, using your own initiative independently and as part of a team.
  • Be reliable, resilient, flexible and proactive.
  • The ability to lead an AOLE.
  • An interest in Language, Literacy and Communication would be advantageous.
  • Be experienced in planning for transition from primary to secondary.
We are looking for:
  • Outstanding classroom practice and the ability to motivate and engage young learners; the applicant will be inspiring, innovative, creative, caring, full of enthusiasm and who will make our children's learning enjoyable and fun.
  • Have a good knowledge of systems of pastoral care, including pupil empowerment.
  • Be able to effectively work together as members of our strong school team and contribute fully to the life of the school including extra-curricular activities.
  • A caring teacher who has the welfare of our pupils and their families at the core of everything they do.
  • An additional benefit would be to have applicants who have an interest and experience of working with children with Additional Learning Needs.

Desirable qualities and skills:
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience of assessment processes and progression steps.
  • A desire to develop leadership skills and aspire to further their own professional learning.
  • Be able to effectively lead whole school initiatives through collaboration and research based projects.

The ability to teach and communicate effectively through the medium

Welsh is desirable for this post.
