We are currently looking for a Training Advisor - Hospitality & Catering to join our team to help deliver an exciting new project funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, called Pathways 2 Progression. We are seeking an individual to start immediately and up until the project ends on 31/12/2024.
The successful candidate will be responsible for - managing a caseload of learners/pupils/young people undertaking a variety of courses, qualifications and programmes offered by Skills & Training within the Hospitality and catering sector. The post holder will ensure that all learners are given appropriate training, support and guidance in order to achieve their qualifications and other key performance indicators in place to meet the programmes objectives and outcomes. This will involve working in schools, external settings and in the sector workplace.
The post will demand occupationally specific experience in order to support learners.

The main duties of the post:
- Design and deliver appropriate learning materials and resources to support the courses/qualifications delivered at Skills & Training.
- Undertake teaching sessions with learners in line with their individual learning plan and achieve their individual learning plans within the allocated timescale.
- Undertake the delivery of agreed occupational and technical/knowledge based qualifications.
- Assess and verify vocational competence and technical knowledge & skills of learners, as appropriate.
- To be responsible for a caseload of learners within a specified sector(s).
- To ensure that programmes of learning are delivered at the appropriate levels for individual learners.
- Ensure learners are fully inducted to their programme and monitor and review learner's progress at regular intervals as per agreed policy and against agreed targets.
- Canvas new work placements and develop an employer base for continued expansion of training initiatives.
- Undertake the inspection of placements to ensure compliance with the required standards of the section.
- Represent the section at Careers Conventions, Schools talks and working parties as required.
- Organise and deliver pre-exit courses and other section led courses as required.
- To attend internal and external stakeholder meetings as appropriate.
- Refer learners where appropriate to alternative sources of learning/counselling guidance provision, responding to and helping them to resolve their difficulties, thereby ensuring required standards of learners' welfare and training.
- Maintain, update and complete appropriate documentation including learner enrolment paperwork and ongoing programme records, qualification records and including learning plans, learner monitoring/reviewing reports, placement records, college/sub-contractor reports, relevant examination bodies' documentation and others as required.
- Liaise and provide records to external stakeholders such as Working Wales, College Providers, Employers and other parties, in line with GDPR legislation, who are involved in the delivery of the training provision as appropriate.
- Liaise with and meet with appropriate Examination/Awarding Bodies where required.
- Provide reports/updates for Contract Administrators, Team Leaders and Management, as appropriate.
- Provide data to update and maintain Management Information Systems for the sector/programme.
- To maintain an up to date knowledge of developments in vocational training and related programmes and to ensure continuing professional development activities are undertaken.
- To be involved in the Staff Development Review process and to set and review targets for own personal development.
- Maintain EWC Registration annually.
- Minimum of 3 years' supervisory experience of working within the hospitality & catering Industry.
- Experience of working with young people and/or adults in a school/educational or work based setting
- Experience of delivering class based theory and practice sessions against qualifications/courses (e.g. off the job training).
- Understanding of work based learning programmes, training requirements in advertised sector(s) and the systems and processes in delivering courses to learners and qualifications
- A knowledge of the H&S and legal requirements of your sector - particularly in relation to working with young people
Ideally you will;
- Be in possession of, or working towards/willing to work towards an assessing qualification such as TAQA or equivalent
- Be in possession of, or working towards/willing to work towards an Internal Quality Assurer qualification or equivalent
- Possess NVQ/QCF or equivalent in Hospitality & Catering at Level 3 or higher
- Possess Further Education Teaching Certificate or equivalent (such as PGCE/PTTLS) or prepared to work towards it
- Essential Skills Wales Qualifications and/or practitioners certificate
- GCSE (or equivalent/higher) in Maths and English grade C and above/Level 2
