Role Title: Lecturer in Agricultural Engineering

Location: Llysfasi

Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time

Salary: £30,620 - £47,331 (Upper pay range points UP2 and UP3 are subject to evidence of previous progression to Upper Pay Spine)

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer in Engineering at our Llysfasi site. This site is currently undergoing an amazing transformation with £10m invested to become a hub of agricultural sustainability. Using the fund to build a state of the art complex to guide and educate the farming sector towards innovative agricultural practices whilst growing the department and the college.

This position predominantly involves teaching Level 2 and Level 3 learners, providing them with the knowledge and practical skills required in the field of Engineering. The successful candidate will deliver comprehensive and engaging teaching, involving the preparation of learning materials, the marking of student work, and conducting examinations, ensuring our students are well-prepared for their future careers.

The ideal candidate for this role will not only be proficient in teaching at level 2 and 3 but will also possess experience in teaching higher-level courses up to HND, although this is not essential. This breadth of teaching experience ensures that our faculty can offer a comprehensive educational journey, guiding students from their initial steps in Engineering to more advanced, specialised learning.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, the role involves student engagement, offering educational guidance, and support. The lecturer will serve as a course tutor when needed, guiding students through their academic and professional development. Collaboration is key in this role, with the lecturer expected to work closely with colleagues across various departments for resource sharing, curriculum development, and maintaining the highest standards of education. Engaging with industry partners is also a crucial aspect of the role, ensuring that our curriculum remains relevant and aligned with industry needs.

Administration is a cornerstone of this position, with the lecturer responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive records such as registers, schemes of work, and course review documentation. A commitment to quality assurance and continuous improvement is paramount, as the lecturer will be involved in the organisation's self-assessment procedures, external and internal verification activities, and teaching observations.

Essential Requirements
  • Degree in a relevant subject area and/or industry experience
  • Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE, C&G 7407) or willing to work towards
  • Demonstrate an understanding of current developments within your own specialist area and ways of keeping up to date with such developments
  • Knowledge of the broad range of learning needs and how to support these needs within a learning environment

Welsh language skills are desirable for this position.
