We are looking for an inspirational Additional Learning Needs Specialist – someone who can help us shape our brand new All Age School and ensure the needs of all of our community are met.

Ysgol Afon Wen is looking to appoint an outstanding ALNCo, with a passion for supporting young people with additional learning needs (ALN) irrelevant of age, ability or background. The successful candidate will have a strategic overview of ALN in the School and this role is key to our improvement planning. You will work closely with the leadership team to develop the ALN provision; have a proven track record of working successfully and innovatively with ALN learners and have experience of leading a diverse range of staff. The post is suitable for existing ALNCos, however, we are also willing to consider less experienced candidates who have had relevant career opportunities.

Located in Hawthorn, a village on the outskirts of Cardiff, the new All Age 3-16 school is (currently under construction) set in beautiful grounds on the bank of the River Taff and is due to open September 2024.

We are looking for a leader who can demonstrate a strong inclusion ethos, creativity, passion, commitment and impact in their leadership whilst driving this project forward and to embrace the new fresh vision for our new school.

Initially, the school will accommodate up to 1200 pupils. The building will have state of the art facilities which will provide excellent learning resources for all pupils.
