We are looking for an inspirational Assistant Headteacher – someone who can help us shape our brand new All Age School – Ysgol Afon Wen. Located in Hawthorn, a village on the outskirts of Cardiff, the new All Age 3-16 school is (currently under construction) set in beautiful grounds on the bank of the River Taff and is due to open September 2024.

Ysgol Afon Wen will ensure every pupil succeeds irrelevant of age, ability, and background.

We are thrilled to announce a unique and rewarding opportunity to join our dynamic team as an Assistant Headteacher Wellbeing for pupils ranging from 3-16. Do you have what it takes to shape our care support and guidance provision?

You will be part of the leadership team driving standards and supporting our pupils in our community. We are looking to appoint a committed and skilled leader with responsibility for wellbeing. As the leader, the successful candidate will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team formulating the aims and objectives of the school, particularly relating to the wellbeing portfolio. You will maintain clear vision, purpose and high expectations focused on student progress and achievement.

We want you to Inspire, motivate and influence staff to reach the highest standards and to be an excellent role model for all staff and students and be a visible, supportive, and professionally challenging senior leader. As a leader you will actively contribute to the day-to-day management of the school and actively contribute to upholding excellent standards of behaviour for learning. It is important that you lead identified projects to tackle underachievement of specific pupil groups and maintain a prominent visible presence monitoring the work of the school on a daily basis. The role demands effective evaluation and quality assurance of systems and periodically you will report to the governing body on the progress made against targets within the remit of the role.

The Headteacher and Temporary Governing Body are looking to appoint an enthusiastic leader with a passion for school improvement and exemplary classroom practice. You will be expected to teach within the Life or Innovation faculty.
