Higher Level Teaching Assistant - Wellbeing

Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council
We are seeking to appoint an innovative HLTA to join an enthusiastic, energetic and dedicated team of staff to support the wellbeing of learners with Complex Needs in our 4-19 special school in Ebbw Vale.

Learners with identified wellbeing needs are supported by our wellbeing team both in targeted individual, small group and whole class settings. You would liaise directly with the senior leader responsible for wellbeing to support learners to meet their wellbeing needs. You would be required to plan, deliver and assess wellbeing interventions 1:1 and in small groups across the full age range of our school. You may need to provide support to a learner in their classroom following a period of intervention. You will need to be flexible in providing both planned and unplanned support to meet the needs of our learners.

The post would suit someone with flexibility, enthusiasm and sensitivity as well as an excellent understanding of ALN.

The candidate must be willing to demonstrate they are a team player alongside our established support team, maintaining their core values by:

You will need to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills. You must be resourceful, positive, emotionally resilient and have a holistic approach to supporting the needs of children and young people. An ability to contribute to the warm, caring ethos of our school is essential.

This post requires a registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) under the category of School Learning Support Worker and registration will need to be in place prior to commencement in the role.
