DescriptionColeg Sir Gar has an exciting and rare opportunity for a Head of Teaching, Learning & Education to join our award-winning teaching & learning team on a permanent basis.

The post will give an innovative and passionate individual the opportunity to work alongside Directors, Heads of Curriculums & Lecturers to develop all teaching and learning matters across The College to ensure continuous high quality across FE, WBL and HE. You will demonstrate excellence and innovation through your day to day teaching and learning practice, along with the ability to communicate and share best practice.

This role is pivotal to our vision for Teaching, Learning and Professional Learning and you will work closely with the Director of Teaching, Learning and Education and the Vice Principal for Curriculum and Quality to challenge assumptions, explore opportunities and shape the future learning experience for all those who work and learn in our college.

About the RoleAs Head of Teaching, Learning & Education, the main purpose will be to:
  • To manage all learning and teaching developments at Coleg Sir Gar and Coleg Ceredigion;
  • To manage all professional development for all academic staff across Coleg Sir Gar and Coleg Ceredigion;
  • To manage all technology enhanced learning developments at Coleg Sir Gar and Coleg Ceredigion;
  • To manage internal and external projects and collaborations related to Teaching and Learning;
  • To line manage the courses under the Curriculum of Teaching and Learning and to contribute to delivery.
The day to day role will see you engaged in developing and shaping Teaching and Learning initiatives, leading professional learning, working with teachers and support staff across the college, assessing and evaluating the impact of our work and becoming a regular at each of our seven campuses. No two days are the same in this fast paced and dynamic Directorate.

What you will needTo be successful in the role, you will need:
  • Degree or equivalent Qualification
  • Teaching Qualification
  • Relevant teaching experience
  • Recent/relevant experience of TEL
  • Evidence of innovative teaching and learning activities
Whilst it is not essential, additional qualifications to demonstrate lifelong learning would be desired, alongside a good understanding of relevant issues in post 16 education, and awareness of key performance indicators.

Welsh Language Requirements:
  • Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) - Level 0/1
  • Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) - Level 0/1
