The Learning Community is seeking to appoint an ambitious, dynamic and driven Head of Science. Based on our Secondary Campus, you will lead and manage a faculty, comprising of 5 teachers and 1 technician, which is on a rapid improvement journey.

The successful candidate must be able to lead and teach science across 11-16. Preferred areas of teaching experience are physics or chemistry though this is not essential. The ability to teach outside science, such as technology, would also be favourable.

We are looking for an excellent classroom practitioner who demonstrates both their passion for learning and their ability to lead and inspire our learners and the staff within the faculty in this key area of learning.

In addition, the successful applicant will be:
• Able to create an inspirational learning environment with high expectations of
learner achievement, success and progression
• Passionate about the subject; able to motivate learners and staff
• Confident in teaching one or more science subjects across the age and
ability range (11-16)
• Build effective and supporting relationships with learners, parents, governors and
staff
• A role model for learners and staff
• Familiar with the Curriculum for Wales
• Capable of promoting partnerships and collaborative working
• Able to demonstrate a high level of organisational and ICT skills
