Cover Supervisor, Newport

New Directions Education are currently looking to appoint a cover supervisor for a secondary school in the Newport area. The position will be full time working as general cover throughout the school covering day to day sickness and courses.
Applicants will be required to manage the class, so a good working environment can be achieved, and all pupils can work to the best of their ability. You must ensure you give the pupils the correct resources they need to effectively complete work; and you will also be required to understand and learn the school policy so that your management and control of the pupils follows the school’s guidelines. As one of the preferred suppliers for all secondary schools across the borough for the 20/21 academic year, New Directions are able to guarantee full time work immediately.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Ideally, candidates will be required to:
• Develop curricular knowledge in line with the school requirements
• Apply the school’s behaviour management policy and report any difficulties to the class Teacher/senior leadership team
• Set homework in line with the classroom Teacher requirements
• Provide homework under the guidance of the class Teacher
• Administer class tests if requested
• Supervise the work of the Teaching Assistant, providing support if required
• Abide by and work towards all policies within the school, eg – behaviour management, health and safety, equal opportunities
• Carry out pre-prepared exercises in the short term absence of the class Teacher
• Ensure students remain on task through classroom management
• You will not be required to plan lessons, but will have the opportunity to lead the class
• Assisting students where required and ensuring lessons are delivered
• Collect completed work and pass to the class teacher.
