Ysgol Y Deri is a local authority day special school maintained by the Vale of Glamorgan
local authority. Currently there are over 475 pupils on roll.

On the Penarth site pupils are aged between 3 and 19. We support children and young people, with either severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties, moderate learning difficulties, social emotional and mental health needs or autistic spectrum disorders.

Due to expansion, Ysgol Y Deri are interested in recruiting dynamic and energising Learning Support Assistants to join our amazing team from September '24. We believe school should be unmissable.

About the Role

Pay Details: Grade 4 SP (5 -7) £23,500 - £24,294 + SEN allowance Pro rata

Days / Hours per Week: Full Time (Monday- Friday 8.30pm - 3.30pm) Term time only.

We are looking for people who are willing and able to turn their hand to a variety of Curriculum areas and activities; someone who can help our pupils engage and enjoy life affirming experiences. Someone who recognises the importance of both high support and high challenge. If you think that's you, please do get in touch.

Whilst a background in special needs is not essential, a strong understanding of the needs of learners with ALN and/or social, emotional and mental health needs would be advantageous.

Following a successful probation period, applicants will move to Grade 5 (spinal point 8 -12)

This would ideally suit someone who loves working with children, someone who loves to impart knowledge and support children to thrive. The successful candidate should be prepared and excited to take on something completely different. The role on offer includes supporting and teaching groups of pupils as well as 1:1 academic lessons across our curriculum.

The successful candidate will have excellent classroom practice, including use of ICT, high expectations of pupil engagement and achievements and a willingness to work as part of a dedicated team that is committed to providing the very best opportunities for all of our pupils.

You will be required to have an enhanced and barred DBS for both Child and Adult and be registered with EWC.
