About the role
We are looking for a teacher with proven excellence in education, and the ability to inspire and create a meaningful relationship with pupils who have communication and socialization difficulties to join the Communication and Socialization Centre, Canolfan y Môr, in Ceredigion. The facility will provide for pupils in Key Stage 3 to 5 who have difficulties in communicating socially with others and who have behavioural difficulties as a result of these difficulties. The majority of pupils will have autism and complex learning difficulties.
The successful candidates are required to be able to teach through the medium of Welsh and English across a number of different subjects and will be able to plan and provide a differentiated curriculum/ which has been adapted according to the individual needs of the pupils in order to enable the pupils to reach their educational potential. The teacher/teacher is required to promote the pupils' access to mainstream lessons whenever this is appropriate.
The teacher will work flexibly to meet the needs of pupils in Ceredigion. The successful candidate is therefore expected to work across the Key Stages within the centre and within other provisions organized for pupils, such as outreach, and within mainstream schools at the request of the authority and following discussions with the school's headteacher.
