Youth Work Quality Mark Development Officer (fixed term - minimum 12 months)

Purpose of Post:

In April 2024, the EWC assumed responsibility for a co-ordinating, developing and delivering the Quality Mark for Youth Work in Wales on behalf of Welsh Government.

The post holder will work with the Chief Executive to undertake the provision of the Quality Mark for Youth Work service.

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Chief Executive, the Quality Mark for Youth Work Development Officer will:

• Provide advice, guidance and professional support to organisations considering applying for the Quality Mark, and the team of assessors
• Pre-evaluate a range of evidence submitted by organisations applying for the Quality Mark against specified criteria, and advise the assessors accordingly
• Develop plans for assessment visits and make all necessary meeting arrangements
• Attend Quality Mark assessment visits across Wales
• Produce reports following assessment visits, summarising outcomes and making recommendations to the Awarding Body (EWC)
• Ensure effective communication between the Awarding Body (EWC) and the organisation applying for the Quality Mark
• Participate in the assessment appeals process, where appropriate
• Take a lead role in training for assessors, and the recruitment of new assessors
• Promote the Quality Mark across the youth work sector in Wales via presentations, training events and representation at external meetings
• Develop and maintain an on-line presence for the Quality Mark service via the EWC website
• Undertake research, as required, in relation to processes of other quality mark and regulatory bodies
• Take a lead role in the developmental review of the current Quality Mark with the Quality Mark Steering Group, and work with the Welsh Government and others in reviewing and further developing the Quality Mark for Youth Work in Wales
• Liaise with key stakeholders including the Quality Mark Steering Group, Welsh Government, ETS Cymru, CWVYS, PYOG, TAG and Estyn
• Contribute to and draft monthly, quarterly and annual papers, reports and management updates on the Quality Mark for Youth Work in Wales for EWC Council and Committees, the Quality Mark Board and Welsh Government
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation including the Welsh language, Equality and General Data Protection regulations
• Undertake any other duties as directed by the ITE Accreditation Manager or Senior Management Team as commensurate with the post and grade.
• Provide administrative support for Welsh Government in verifying the award of the Quality Mark to new and existing holders.
• Provide public relations support for the award of the Quality Mark across Wales
