DescriptionColeg Sir Gar and Coleg Ceredigion are thrilled to present an exciting opportunity for a passionate Health and Safety Officer to join our esteemed team dedicated to ensuring the health and safety of our staff and students on a permanent basis.
This role underscores our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of health and safety across the college. Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, you will work closely with staff, students, and external stakeholders to promote a culture of safety, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
As the Health and Safety Officer, you will play a pivotal role in assisting in the implementation and maintenance of the robust health and safety protocols across our campuses.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead initiatives aimed at enhancing safety protocols, contributing to the embedding of a positive health and safety culture, and fostering a proactive approach to risk management.
About the RoleAs the Health and Safety Officer, the main purpose will be to:
- Develop, review, and update health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines tailored to the specific needs and risks of the education establishment;
- Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and standards;
- Support staff by providing advice and guidance on all health and safety matters;
- Coordinate regular health and safety training sessions for staff as well as delivery of some training sessions;
- Undertake audits of departments to ensure compliance.
What you will needTo be successful in the role, you will need:
- Degree, NEBOSH or equivalent Qualification
- A thorough understanding of health and safety legislation, regulations and guidance relevant to educational establishments
- Confidence to deliver relevant health and safety training to staff
- Good communicator with diplomacy and tact
- Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) - Level 0/1
- Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) - Level 0/1
