Teaching Assistant (Special) Level 1 (Ysgol Penmaes)
Job description
We are seeking to appoint two Level 1 Teaching Assistant on a maternity cover contract to commence as soon as possible.
The posts are term time only, will be 32.5 hours per week, and will include inset training days and holiday entitlement.
You will need to have at least GCSE English and Maths; you need to commit to your own professional development and be prepared to undertake other appropriate training, leading preferably to NVQ 2.
Current experience of working with children with special educational needs would be an advantage.
The above posts are offered as maternity cover and will end when the current post holder returns to work. The successful candidates will work as part of the school team, working under the general supervision of the class teachers.
Teaching assistants assist classroom teachers and support the learning and wellbeing of individual children or groups; they can provide appropriate care to those dependent on adults for their basic needs. This could include meeting their needs for the use of the toilet, and the associated manual handling. These posts require a committed and flexible approach, as the well-being of all our pupils is extremely important.
