Job description
Starting as soon as possible in May/June 2024 (Pending satisfactory Safeguarding and Recruitment checks)

The Governing Body of Derwendeg Primary School seeks to appoint a Midday Supervisor to ensure the safety and wellbeing of pupils during lunchtime breaks, in accordance with the practices and procedures of the school. This includes supervising pupils before, during and after their mid-day meal.

A smart, reliable and professional person is required for this demanding, but rewarding role within the school.

The midday supervisors are very much a part of the staff and central to the school. The successful candidate will have a calm and positive manner with children and will assist in promoting positive behaviour.

The successful candidate will possess good communication skills and enjoy working with children. They will have a commitment to making lunchtimes a happy time and will be keen to engage pupils in play activities.

Duties include:

To supervise children during the lunch break

To help children eating their school dinner or packed lunch

To supervise children in the playground

To supervise children in their classes during inclement weather

To play games and undertake activities with the children

To deal with minor accidents and injuries and administer First Aid, including updating records in relation to incidents and accidents ensuring there is evidence and clear audit trails should any safeguarding issues arise

To manage children's behaviour positively

To maintain confidentiality

To use cleaning equipment/materials as necessary to clean spillages etc, ensuring any products that contain chemicals are used in accordance with guidelines and are stored securely after use.
