Executive Headteacher - Mary Immaculate and St. Teilo's Catholic Primary Schools

Pembrokeshire County Council
Application Form

Job Description

Person Specification

Start date: September 2024 (or as soon as possible afterwards). Full time, permanent post

A rare opportunity has arisen in the idyllic county of Pembrokeshire for an ambitious current head teacher or experienced senior leader to spearhead a new federation of Catholic primary schools. This is an exciting time for a dynamic leader with vision to build on the strengths of the two schools and, together with our supportive school community, provide
strategic direction for the new federation, dividing their time between the two sites.

Working in partnership with the Diocese of Menevia and Pembrokeshire County Council, the governing body of this new federation of Catholic primary schools is looking to appoint an
outstanding Catholic leader as Executive Headteacher. The successful candidate will continue to protect, nurture and develop the positive Catholic learning culture and drive
standards so that all pupils achieve their potential as learners and young people.

The schools

Mary Immaculate Catholic Primary (NOR 202) is situated in the historic county town of Haverfordwest and has a "wonderfully caring and nurturing ethos" (ESTYN March 2023).

St. Teilo's Catholic Primary (NOR 81) is situated in the picturesque seaside town of Tenby and has a "clear vision [..] and values every pupil as an individual" (ESTYN 2018).

The successful candidate

You will be an inspirational leader with an impressive record of school improvement and the vision and adaptability to facilitate success for our pupils, staff and parish communities. You
will have the skills and values to inspire, support and challenge with the passion to make a difference to our children.

The governors are looking to recruit someone who is:

  • A practising Catholic with a vision of Catholic education, committed to the spiritual development of the pupils
  • Driven to ensure that all pupils are inspired, challenged and supported to achieve their full potential
  • Committed to excellence in teaching and learning, and promoting creativity
  • Familiar with Curriculum for Wales, ALN and the safeguarding framework
  • Committed to inclusion, diversity and wellbeing; and the influence of these on pupil outcomes
  • An excellent communicator who can engage effectively with children, parents, staff and governors
  • Able to build on existing relationships and develop new ones within the schools, diocese, local authority and wider parish communities

The successful candidate will be expected to sign the Catholic Education Service contract of employment.
