Job information
Post No. POSN003757 - Data Manager - Llanwern High School

Llanwern High School is an 11-18 mixed comprehensive school serving much of the eastern side of Newport. We are housed in a new building that provides a learning environment and facilities appropriate for a 21st century school. We currently have just over 1100 pupils on roll.

We believe that education should be about preparing young people with the key skills and behaviours that they will need for a successful future, hence our school vision of “Nurture, Growth, Success for All”.

We pride ourselves on the wider opportunities to support pupil development outside of the classroom, such as our recent production of Grease, our Cultural Showcase, alongside regular sporting fixtures. We have a pupil leadership team that is actively involved in decision making across the school and supporting community projects.

In 2022, we were the proud recipients of the inaugural Betty Campbell MBE award for promoting the contributions and perspectives of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities. We are a school that fosters an environment of kindness and respect built upon the positive relationships between pupils and staff.

At Llanwern High school you would be part of a supportive school environment with staff wellbeing high in our priorities. We provide high-quality support for colleagues at all stages of their careers, with bespoke professional learning from both internal and external providers. September 2024 will see the launch of a new middle leaders’ course to sit alongside opportunities for staff aspiring to be senior leaders.

We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Data Manager to join our supportive team and work alongside our Assistant Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to develop our systems and procedures and ensure data is effectively used throughout the school to facilitate improvement.

The role will be suited to someone who is very organised, with excellent attention to detail and who has experience of working in a busy office environment.

You will be joining an experienced and welcoming school support team, so if you are looking for a role where you can continue your career in a challenging and rewarding role within a growing secondary school, we look forward to hearing from you.

Please refer to the supporting documents for further information.

We are legally obliged to ask you to provide evidence of your right to work in the UK. If you are invited to interview, you will be asked to provide appropriate documents such as your full birth certificate/passport/work permit in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and a comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on all applicants. This will include an enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Closing Date: 7th May 2024 (midnight)

Interview date: TBC

We welcome applications for all our jobs in either Welsh or English. An application submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application submitted in English.

Newport City Council is committed to working towards its workforce being more representative of the population that we serve and particularly welcomes applications from people from the minority ethnic communities represented (or living) in the city. Selection will be made on ability and skills to undertake the role.
