Specialist Preschool Assistant - Portfield Pre School Pennar

Job Description

The Portfield Preschool at Pennar provides a quality and accessible playgroup for children with complex additional learning needs. Specialist staff support children to play and develop through play-based curriculum activities and interventions, organising and reviewing the environment regularly to maximise learning and development opportunities for children based on their individual need, interest and stage of development. This is achieved by working closely with multi agency professionals and through specialised training to support staff in their knowledge and expertise.

We require one fixed term full time specialist play assistant to join our happy, growing and dynamic team at Portfield Preschool, Pennar. The positions will allow for group or 1:1 work within the setting.

This is a permanent position required for 18 hours per week.

Grade 3 - £22,737 pro rata for 30 hours per week term time only for 45.8 weeks per annum equating to £9,716.24 pro rata.

Candidates need to hold a Level 3 Childcare Learning and Development or equivalent qualification from the Care Council for Wales' current list of Accepted Qualifications for the Early Years and Childcare Workforce in Wales or Skills Active's Integrated Qualification Framework for Play work.

You will work under the direct instruction of the Playgroup Leader to support access to learning for all children, including those identified as having special educational needs, and provide general support to the playgroup leader in the management of the early years children aged 2-5 years old. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a reasonable standard of education with proficiency in literacy and numeracy to GCSE level or equivalent and have previous experience of working with or caring for children of a relevant age in either a paid, voluntary, or domestic environment. You will need to be able to show an interest in children's development and in a wide range of issues concerning their education and welfare.
