Permanent Part Time 15 hours per week

Applications are invited for the post of Principal Schools Governance Officer to job-share with the current post-holder. The role involves managing a small school governance team that along with the pupil admissions, education safeguarding, vulnerable learners service, education welfare service and the case assessment and progression team, combine to form the wider Child & Family Support Team.

The duties of the post include:
  • providing professional advice, guidance and challenge on all activities relating to school governance;
  • participating with the planning and delivery of training courses for governors;
  • promoting attendance and preventing exclusions amongst pupils;
  • attendance at and the provision of high-quality advice to governing body pupil disciplinary committees;
  • ensuring compliance with education specific legislation in relation to governing body related matters;
  • managing the Welsh Government Period Dignity Grant in line with the conditions of the grant;
  • managing a small team of staff.
As a successful candidate, you will:
  • have a proven track record in the field of education;
  • be able to demonstrate a successful reputation of working in partnership with schools and governing bodies delivering a high quality service;
  • be an effective communicator and able to develop positive relationships;
  • have a sound knowledge and understanding of governing bodies and the surrounding policies/procedures and regulations.
This post will require travel around the County Borough and occasional evening work.

The post is for 15 hours per week to be worked mainly on a Thursday and Friday; however, the postholder will need to be flexible in their approach and will be required to work on other days between Monday and Friday based on the needs of the service.
