Apprenticeship in Information Technology
Based within the College’s Computer Services Team
Pembrokeshire College’s Computer Services Team currently has an exciting opportunity for a proactive and energetic individual to apply for a Information Technology Apprenticeship. This role will offer the opportunity to develop a wide range of IT skills within an extremely busy team.
If you are confident and enthusiastic, without working experience but looking for a career in that field, this could be for you. Pembrokeshire College is a large employer and can offer many opportunities for the future. This is initially a fixed term position to run for the duration of the qualification framework (a maximum of 18 months).
Salary Details: Apprentice rate £4.30 per hour for the first year of the apprenticeship (This is dueto increase to £4.81 from 1st April 2022) . Having completed the first year of the apprenticeship, they will move to the National Minimum Wage rate if 19 years old or over- until completion of the Framework or end date of the fixed term contract.
Contract Type: Full-time (37 hours per week), salaried, fixed term for 18 months (from date of commencement of employment)
Holiday Entitlement: 28 days per annum plus statutory bank holidays
Qualifications: Ideally 5 GCSEs A-C including Maths and English Language. Level 3 IT qualification (or working towards)
Details: The apprentice appointed will be committed to working towards and achieving a Level 3 Apprenticeship Framework in Information Technology. Further details of the Framework will be given at interview. This position is based within the Computer Services Team at the College and the person appointed will be an integral part of that team assisting with Helpdesk support of a large IT infrastructure with many end users.
The role will be Helpdesk based and will require a flexible, team oriented approach. On the job training will be provided, together with access to both formal and informal training. Pembrokeshire College will also provide the formal training framework for this apprenticeship. Upon successful completion of the framework, consideration will be given to offering permanent employment at the College. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively, to use their own initiative and have a well organised approach to work. The prioritising of tasks is essential, as are excellent IT skills.
