About The Service
Cardiff Educational Psychology Service is made up of friendly, highly motivated, educational psychologists, with a range of experience and diverse professional interests.

This is a time of change for the Service and the role offers opportunities to be involved both in strategic developments within the Local Authority as well as supporting the Inclusion Service and schools in taking forward ALN reform.

We provide access to a laptop, smartphone and flexible working arrangements.

The Service is keen to invest in its workforce and participates in a range of CPD activities, including joint training with neighbouring EP Services and provides staff with the opportunity to develop an area of special interest.

We have strong links with Cardiff University, having Educational Psychologists in Training placed with us and facilitating collaborative research projects.

About the job
We are keen to appoint a fully qualified educational psychologist, from September 2024, possibly sooner.

We would consider applications from Year 3 Trainee Educational Psychologists due to finish training in 2024.

The role will involve a range of duties, both school focused and strategic.

There will be opportunity to work closely with colleagues within the EPS and wider education service to ensure that the EPS makes a contribution to the realisation of the Education Service vision and delivery plan.

There will also be opportunity to make a contribution to the future direction of the Educational Psychology Service.

In addition, the post holder will have responsibility for a patch of schools and settings and may be required to undertake supervision of Educational Psychologists in Training and contribute to task and finish groups.

We work within a consultation model of service delivery.

Access to peer and line management supervision will be provided along with a programme of induction.

What We Are Looking For From You
We are looking for an Educational Psychologist with the knowledge, skills, experience, to help the further development of the EPS.

You will:
  • hold a Degree in Psychology (or equivalent) as recognised by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a professional post-graduate qualification in Educational Psychology, accredited by the BPS.
  • be fully registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.

You will have a good understanding of the potential for Educational Psychology to make a difference for children and young people.

You will have good communication skills and the capacity to develop strong working relationships with a variety of partners.
