About us
Whitmore High School is an 11-18 Comprehensive School, which opened in September 2018. The school serves the western side of Barry and has strong support from the local community and parents. The school recently moved into a £35m building on a large, pleasant site with good access by road or rail, which is within easy reach of the M4, Cardiff, Newport, and Bridgend. The school is popular in the local community; pupil numbers are very strong with a large waiting list in Year 7. A recent Estyn visit, March 2022, recognised the high-quality teaching and learning of the school as a "notable feature" where "as a result of outstanding provision within the majority of subjects, many pupils make rapid and secure progress". The governors are seeking to appoint an innovative, dedicated and resourceful Curriculum Technician to support the science department on a journey of continued success.
The duties of the person appointed will include supporting the work of the Science department. In addition, candidates will be expected to undertake a broad range of tasks, including preparation for practical work, clerical support such as photocopying and data input.
We are looking for a lively, enthusiastic individual who has initiative and good organisational skills. The need to be a strong team player is essential, as are excellent communication skills and a willingness to work flexibly. Previous school experience, knowledge of working with a variety of materials and processes and appropriate health and safety procedures, are essential.
