Lliswerry High School is a thriving, multi-cultural, 11-18 mixed comprehensive school on the eastern side of Newport close to the M4.

The Governing Body is now seeking to appoint an inspirational Leader of Learning in Humanities who will build upon the progress of our cohesive, successful Humanities department and lead it to greater successes in the future. We are looking for an outstanding leader and practitioner who will motivate and inspire colleagues and learners alike and continue to raise standards across all areas of the subject. A passion for Humanities and the ability to transfer this passion to others is essential.

In addition to leading the Humanities team, the successful candidate will teach across the age and ability range and the ability to teach at GCSE and A Level would be welcomed, but is not essential.

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will:

• possess excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills
• have a proven track record of raising standards
• be a positive role model to colleagues and learners alike
• possess enthusiasm, resilience, determination and a sense of humour
• possess the ability to motivate and inspire colleagues and learners
• have high expectations of themselves, colleagues and learners
• be an excellent classroom practitioner
• be committed to their own professional learning and that of the science team
• have the ability to develop excellent working relationships with all stakeholders
• be able to use data in a highly effective manner in order to support progress across the department
• be absolutely committed to the vision of our school
