The Faculty of Creativity and Skills at Coleg Ceredigion is looking to appoint a dynamic, forward thinking Creative Media Technician who will support Media and Art provision on the Aberystwyth Campus. Candidates should be able to undertake video shooting, capture, editing and export processes. They should be familiar with a range of media equipment such as cameras and sound equipment. Expertise in Apple hardware and software would be particularly important, and knowledge of some of the popular systems and application packages would be ideal.
The post offers an exciting and challenging opportunity for a technically minded person who is at home with problem solving and who is happy to cooperate within a team environment as well as working independently.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide support to the Creative Media and Art teams to assist management, maintenance and security of AV equipment;
- Provide advice, guidance and support for both hardware and software issues raised by staff and learners. To identify and fix software and hardware faults quickly and efficiently with central support where required;
- Carry out the installation and configuration of all new computer hardware in relation to your area of responsibility to ensure operation to the highest quality standard;
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment, complying with Health and Safety regulations;
- Prepare, maintain and update relevant Health & Safety documentation such as Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, COSHH records and equipment maintenance records, in liaison with course teams;
- Participate in continued education of all Apple products and services to ensure the highest level of advice and guidance is provided
Skills Knowledge and ExpertiseEssential Criteria:
- Minimum Level 3 (A Level /BTEC National Diploma) Qualification or 3 years industry experience in related area
- GCSE English and Mathematics or O Level Minimum Grade C or (CSE Grade 1 equivalent)
- Recent and relevant experience of working with Apple technology
- Be competent in the use of the following equipment: Digital cameras for stills and video, editing and animation software
- Good communicator with diplomacy and tact
- Good interpersonal and organisational skills
- Ability to work harmoniously with students and colleagues
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Ability to work flexibly
Desirable Criteria:
- BA Hons/HNC/HND in related area
- Appropriate Health & Safety training (or willingness to undertake appropriate training)
- First Aid qualification (If you are not First Aid qualified, a willingness to undertake training as soon as possible)
- A good understanding of the technical support role in Further & Higher Education
- Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) - Level 0/1
- Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) - Level 0/1
