The Governors at Cymmer Primary School wish to appoint a passionate and inspirational Foundation Phase classroom practitioner to the post of teacher.

Post 1 is for a full time teacher for 1 year and post 2 is for a part time teacher for 1 year, working two and a half days a week.

Cymmer Primary is a happy and successful primary school with wonderful pupils and staff that has well-being at its centre. We are situated at the bottom of the Rhondda valley within easy access to all main roads including A470 and M4. The school currently has 209 pupils.

We are very excited to be able to offer a 1 year teaching position for an innovative and motivated practitioner. They will be joining our happy, supportive, hardworking and committed school community who strive everyday to fulfil our school motto ‘Dream, Believe, Achieve.’ We provide a welcoming environment and the appointed post-holder will be able to nurture and develop their own role within a supportive team of professionals. We are looking for somebody who:

  • Has experience of teaching within the 3-7 year age range;
  • Is a committed class teacher who is able to work closely and collaboratively with their colleague to ensure the smooth and consistent running of the class.
  • Is a class teacher who is inspiring, creative, full of enthusiasm and someone who will make children's learning enjoyable and fun;
  • Is passionate about providing their learners with well-planned authentic learning opportunities, based on their next steps, which enable them to be inspired and challenged;
  • Values the importance of practical and outdoor learning and would ensure these were an integral part of their curriculum offer;
  • Is reflective and adaptive in their teaching approaches to ensure all children make progress;
  • Is able to establish and maintain close working relationships with parents/carers;
  • Is able to nurture, care for and put the well-being of the pupils first, enabling them to be happy and safe in their class and allowing them to achieve their potential;
  • Has an excellent knowledge of Curriculum for Wales and progression of learning, particularly with PS1 and PS 2;
  • Is a team player and highly motivated to work with a well-established high performing team of staff and is willing to continue their own professional learning journey;
  • Is highly motivated and eager to take part in the full life of the school;
