We are seeking to appoint a lecturer/lecturers for sessional evening work delivering on our expanding Higher Education provision in Childhood Studies / Childrens' development and Education. The primary focus of the position would be to teach on our Higher Education route of Childhood Studies (levels 4, 5 & in time Level 6).

Applications are particularly welcomed from individuals who have recent experience working in the Childhood sector, or any other closely related discipline, where you have a sound understanding of current legislation, policy and contemporary issues in the Children's Development and Education sector.

We are particularly interested in individuals who could deliver on topics such as: Children's Development, Positive Behaviour Approaches, Continuous Professional Development, Professionalism, Professional Identity and Multi-Professional Working, Contemporary Education Perspectives, A Green/Sustainable Childhood, Supporting Children with Additional Learning Needs.

The role will allow you to professionally develop as a lecturer in Childrens' Development and Education, with the guidance and support of a team of Programme Leaders, Coordinators and Mentor who lead provision within the department. Your duties would include the preparation and delivery of engaging lectures for our Higher Education learners; along with administration, assessment and quality assurance practices associated with these duties. We encourage the use of practical and active teaching and learning methodologies, to bring the learning to life. You will be able to apply knowledge and examples from your experiences to the teaching and learning delivered. This will ensure our Higher Education students are gaining an in-depth understanding and appreciation of the duties, challenges, joys and rewards of following a career in the Childhood sector.

Our ideal candidate would have previous teaching and industry experience, however, we also welcome sector experts who are looking to take their first steps into teaching. The teaching timetable is clearly defined as Tuesday / Thursday evening with sessions being delivered between 6 and 9 pm on each evening, making this an excellent position which could fit around your current role in practice / provides you with a small amount of teaching per week to help the next generation of sector employees tap into your expertise.

Working Pattern
Up to 6 hours per week, Tuesday and / or Thursday. Work pattern would be 6pm - 9pm. Subject & Level of delivery are based on qualifications and experience.

Please note: An additional percentage of between 10% - 63.33% (subject to criteria) will be applied to the contracted hours worked to reflect preparation and marking.
