Lecturer in Children’s Development and Education

Grwp Llandrillo Menai

Salary: £20.58 - £31.82 per hour inclusive of holiday pay, dependent on qualifications and experience

We are seeking to appoint a lecturer in Children's Development & Education. You will be teaching across a range of levels, from Level 1 (Introduction to Health and Care) through to Level 3 (A-level equivalent/A-level H&SC) and potentially up to Level 5 (HE level) on our FdA Childhood Studies.

Applications are particularly welcomed from individuals who have recent experience in the sector - e.g. working in primary education, Early Years settings, or other relevant industry experience. Having a proven track record of providing successful teaching or of supporting young children to achieve their potential is essential. Along with this you will demonstrate a passion and enthusiasm for Early Years education and making sessions highly skill focused, as well as being academically rigorous. You may have a strong understanding of the theoretical basis of child development/psychology, or other closely related discipline, allowing you to demonstrate a sound understanding of current legislation and policy in the Early Years / Children's Education and Development sector.

The role will allow you to develop as a lecturer in Children's Development and Education (birth to age 7), with the guidance and support of a team of Programme Leaders, Coordinators and Mentor who lead provision within the department. Your duties would include the preparation and delivery of engaging lectures for our developing learners; along with administration, assessment and quality assurance practices associated with these duties. We encourage the use of practical and active teaching and learning methodologies, to bring the learning to life. You will be able to apply knowledge supported with examples from your experiences to the teaching and learning delivered. This will ensure learners are gaining an in-depth understanding and appreciation of the duties, challenges, joys and rewards of following a career in Children's Development and Education / Early Years settings.

Our ideal candidate would have previous teaching and industry experience, however, we also welcome sector experts who are looking to take their first steps into teaching. We would also consider candidates who may wish to consider job shares (e.g. 1 day / wk) so they can retain their current role in practice alongside the teaching position.
