Part-Time Secondary Improvement Adviser

Part-Time Secondary Improvement Adviser (0.2 Secondment or 1-Year Fixed Term Contract)

Are you an experienced senior leader with a strong track record of leading improvement in schools or supporting schools to improve from a local or regional role? Pembrokeshire County Council's School Improvement Team is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Secondary Improvement Adviser to join our successful and supportive team.

About the Role:

The Secondary Improvement Adviser will work with 2 or 3 secondary schools over the next academic year, either on a 0.2 secondment (for current school staff) or on a fixed-term 1-year contract for the equivalent of 40 days.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, challenge, and support the performance of secondary schools.
  • Facilitate school-to-school support and innovative programmes to create capacity.
  • Advise on all aspects of school improvement including leadership, curriculum, teaching, behaviour, finances, and senior appointments.
  • Collaborate with school governors, headteachers, senior leaders, and teachers to improve outcomes for learners, particularly disadvantaged learners.
  • Prepare reports and represent the School Improvement Team at meetings and conferences.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a senior leader in a school or in a role supporting school improvement.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based practices that enhance outcomes for disadvantaged learners.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to motivate and get the best out of people.
  • Strong skills in evaluation and planning to provide effective advice and support.
  • Ability to connect, motivate, and work with a diverse range of stakeholders.
